- Yttrium-doped hematite used was synthesized by Taggart et al. (2018), by mixing a solution of yttrium-doped Fe(III) chloride with EDTA in alkaline medium. The solution was then autoclaved for 1 h and the resulting precipitate was centrifuged (4000 x g) and washed with MilliQ water to remove residual salts. The washed sample was heated at 550 °C for 3 h.
