Step Chronology Date Type Process Changes #1 before layer formation mixing We mixed the weighted amounts of kerite powder and ice particles in an aluminium bottle, pre-cooled with liquid nitrogen, using a vibration mixer. Ice and kerite particles are mixed at the particle scale. #2 during layer formation layer formation Inside the freezer, we sieved the ice-kerite mixture (mesh size 400 µm) to fill the sample holder and removed excess material with a spatula to obtain a flat surface, without compacting.
